Codex 2
May I say, the new skylight really brings the ship together? I've never been one for stars as a design, but I think it works here. What does everyone else think?
[ During the times when Garion's powers are returned to him, he's taken to being productive. Oh, he's not about to make himself the size of a mountain and start tearing the ship apart; he's too Sendarian for that, and without a plan on what to do for all the kids around here, further damage is entirely out the window.
But that doesn't mean he isn't taking advantage.
Hence why one might see a shadow moving oddly along the edges of the hallways or against the sections of burned out ship that hide its darkness. It's headed for one very specific place, and one very specific man. He should have plenty of time to get this done. ]
[ While things are still very touchy, Garion's an incredibly sneaky man despite his size.
...probably something to do with being partially raised by a Drasnian spy prince. That, or the fact that he occasionally turns into a tiny, easy to miss, bunny.
Which is how he gets to Taylor, a smile on his face as he holds up a small, loose-woven cage full of butterflies the likes of which even Taylor has never seen. Their wings are a beautiful gray that shimmers blue and green and pink like a pastel oil slick depending on the shift of light. ]
I made you something. Or some things. If you'd like to see.
[ Jason might be busy, but hopefully he's not too busy to run a little when a big blue white wolf happens to trot up to him, tongue and tail wagging. Look! Look, they can run together a little!
If he sees Iris, he'll make the same offer. Hopefully, she'll be unstuck at the same time he is.]

[ Garion's around like he's always around, with a priority on making sure none of the kids get hurt even if there's a few of them he can't stand. But any Assistant who tries to handle him might find the idea ill-fated, even if power caps are working properly. He's had to do things sneakily before. And he's better at it than that farmboy face would lead you to believe. ]

"You made them?"

And as soon as he understands something, he has a lot more flexibility in what he can do with them. As it is, the butterflies seem calm and settled in their little enclosure.
"They're for you. Though I should probably explain a little."
He glances around as if to ask if she has a minute for that.

"I'm all ears."

"These butterflies are special. Specifically?"
He'll point to one of their wings.
"When they're upset or frightened, they spread a dust with their wings. Anyone inhales it? It's going to make them very sleepy."
He dips his head towards her.
"I know you only have access to your powers sometimes, just like I do. But I figured they might be of use regardless, as long as you know it's there."
no subject
"That's- that could be very useful," she says, a use already snapping to the front of her mind. "That's very generous."

He doesn't look up at the hole for very long at a time, but he does sneak peeks often. And he minds where he places his feet, just in case.]
Re: Spam
Glad to see you're doing all right.
Re: Spam
And not having to rush in to break up a fight. That, too.]
The same to you, sir. Garion.
[At least he keeps track of who doesn't prefer titles, but habits are still habits.
That smile drops back into an expression of contemplation, however.]
... It's strange, being able to be so near this, and not feel it.
Re: Spam
Did you live among the stars in your world?
Re: Spam
I don't know for sure whether my Earth will get there... but if it's anything like other worlds, they will at some point.
[Human ingenuity is irrepressible... to a point.]
I could always see the sky back home, though.
[Well. Almost.]
But - if this is a hull breach, shouldn't we be able to feel something from the hole, even this far down?

She hasn't moved from the common area under the hole since the explosion, and everything about her is relaxed in a way no one on the Clipper has seen yet. She flings her arms around Garion's neck and scritches his ears.
"Well, blow me down, that were well worth a demotion. Thank you, lovey."
Re: [spam]
"The hole isn't my work. I'm just here admiring. But I do remember a certain wolf fighting beside me during all of that."
Re: [spam]
She giggles and waves an arm at the hole.
"Just blows it all to heck. Fudging magnificent. I can breathe again."
Re: [spam]
"There's a part of me that wonders why I never thought to do it. But I guess I'm too practical."

There's a middle ground between swallowing whatever bullstuff you're fed and breaking things just to watch 'em burn, you know?

[ He tips his head towards the camera. ]
Which is why I didn't blow that hole in the ship. Never even occurred to me.
But... things are changing around here. And changing quick. I can't say I hate that. Or that it wasn't necessary.
[ Someone may have blown out the wall of a castle once in frustration so he didn't? But he gets it. ]

And 'settle down' is a sentiment that's been ill-used around here. I'm sure you can figure out what I'm saying.

Oh, wow. Things really ARE on the fritz, aren't they? [Jason grins, heading back into the bathroom.] Give me five minutes.
[Garion has seen him shift before. It's painful and kind of messy, even if the mess tends to go away on its own. But the tiled bathroom is much easier to deal with and, after the noted five minutes, a fairly large gray wolf trots out of the bathroom, ears up and grinning.]
